This Year's Model Updates:

Coming off a redesign last year, the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado is unchanged other than the addition of satellite radio as standard equipment and an optional integrated trailer brake controller.

Pros:
  • Refined and very quiet ride, pleasing fit and finish inside, seats are comfortable for long drives, comprehensive list of safety equipment.
Cons:
  • Larger turning circle than most rivals, mediocre interior storage and cupholders.

  • Great truck, bad MPG - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

2008 LT1 LT 1500 Z71 XCAB long bed. This is a replacement for the same truck but a 2002. I love this truck, plenty of power, very comfortable, nice options. I call it the contractors Cadillac, the ride is awesome for a long bed extended cab truck. So far just a few small gliches at 2800 miles. Fit and finish is very nice.

Just want to say that this vehicle has been a good ride so far. Have a 2008, 97000 miles and BAM!!! get this flashing signal that says service stabil-track control and traction control, and my engine light flashes....Well, take it to the dealer, they call back saying it is a broken valve spring #3...if that doesnt resolve the engine light they say theyll have to change the manifold....Im sorta lost....can anyone help out????

  • Fun To Drive Truck - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    By -

Great truck, by far much better that the 2006 2500 HD 4WD gas guzzling machine I traded in. Not sure what the active fuel management is, however after the purchase process on the long journey home over a 100 miles this baby got alittle over 18MPG compared to the 13 mpg the 2006 Chevy. This truck is much more quieter and much more fun to drive. Smooth acceleration quick to stop. This is by far the best truck Chevy has ever put out.

  • Great Truck - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Well my wife likes driving my Chevy Truck more than her 07 Saturn Vue. The comfort level is remarkable, were as you know that you are diving a truck, after 2 or 3 hundred miles you dont feel beat up from the drive. Its a Truck that drives like a car. I test drove Ford trucks #1 because they cost less and felt like I had been driving a truck after just a short time.

  • 08 Silverado W/T Base - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    By -

Wanted a base longbed truck for basic transportation- prices have dropped as dealers have a glut of these trucks. Very happy with performance, satisfied with price. Gas mileage is running less than my 05 W/T, which I expected. Overall, it gets lots of compliments.

  • Extremely Disappointed - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    By -

Unfortunately, for all the good attributes this truck has, power, performance, comfort, gas mileage for a big car, its an extremely unreliable vehicle. Ive had it at the dealership 4 times in the last 6 weeks for various issues that have required major repair. Fortunately, I found a good dealership that has made the repairs under warranty. The selling dealership was horrible. Along with all the other problems Ive had in the past, I could never recommend this vehicle. The other funny thing is that some things that one dealerships says is covered under warranty is not at another dealership.

  • Trans - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

  • I have the 6.0 MAX LS and love it! - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    By -

Ive only had the 6.0 for a bit over a month and love it! Got the 6.0 trailering package to tow for Moab, but fell in love with the power and comfort! The LT doesnt have the leather and heated seats, washers, etc., of the LTZ, but with a remote start, who really needs that? And for 8 grand more than I paid, I sure dont! Ride is great for a truck, better than most cars! Interior is far superior to Ford or Toyota - which I considered as well. Gas mileage is not that great. Ive been averaging around 12-14 for the past month, but my foot is a bit heavy with this new toy! And I dont do much freeway driving yet. Overall, A great vehicle for 15000 under invoice.

  • Is Silverado mileage false advertising? - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    By -

Overall I really like my 08 Silverado over my 01. The ride is much better and its quieter. I got the 5.3 engine with 3.42 gears for better mileage, but Im getting 12mpg city and 16mpg highway? My 01 got 14mpg city and 18mpg highway. notice mileage on this site is split between folks getting great mileage and folks getting really bad mileage. Something sure seems amiss! The cruise control doesnt seem to work as well as on my 01.

  • 08 Work Truck, Love It - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    By -

I purchased this truck for its great looks and big bed. I have had many Chevy trucks in the past but this is the best by far. Drives like a big car and rides like one. Pulls a car trailer with a car on it like nothing is behind it, and it is the 4.3 v6. Love the rack steering. Wish it had a grab handle on the drivers side so I wouldnt have to grab the steering wheel to enter the cab. Dont care much for the black cloth on the seats. Shows my cats hair.
